The Hope of Eternal Life

In the last blog, I told you how I know Nicholas is in heaven. If you do not have this Hope, I implore you to read on. I want to share with you how you can know you have eternal life when your earthly life ceases to exist. None of us knows the number of our days. Life can change in an instant. We have great comfort in knowing that Nicholas had made this decision before he died.

Do you believe?

God is the Creator of the universe, and it seemed good to Him to create man and woman in His image and give them a glorious place to live and worship Him. Satan came along and told lies about God. They were very deceptive, and the woman believed them and disobeyed God. The man did not want to live without the woman, so he knowingly and willingly disobeyed God also. Even though God removed them from the glorious place He had prepared for them, He promised to provide a way back to Himself. He can have nothing to do with sin; His character will not allow it. But because of His GREAT LOVE for us, He sent His only Son Jesus to be born of a virgin and live a perfect life with the purpose of paying the price for all sin. The price was His blood shed as He died on a cross. He took what we deserved and put it on Himself so we could live. When God looks on us, He sees our account as paid in full. The good news does not stop there. Jesus Christ conquered death when He rose from the dead. His resurrection is what gives us a Living Hope to be reunited with loved ones who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ.

Will you receive?

If you believe that Jesus’s death was sufficient to pay the price for your sin, that it was not anything you could do yourself, and you ask Him to be Lord of your life, He will save you too. This decision is the best decision you will ever make and will become your favorite love story too! It is the one that impacts your life for all of eternity and gives you assurance of where you will go when you die. Christ will come back some day and re-establish His Kingdom on earth as God intended before sin. But until then, God gave us a beautiful gift, in the form of the Holy Spirit. He will guide and comfort and testify Truth to our spirit. We can live with hope as we await His return.

Let’s celebrate

If you are not familiar with this story, I would encourage you to open a Bible, find the Gospel of John, and just start reading. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you through the Truth contained therein. There are also many free Bible apps you could use or go on-line to BibleGateway.com.

It is my prayer that you make this decision right now if you have never done so. And send me a message that you have done it, so I can celebrate this life-changing good news with you. You can reach me here: julie@juliefillinger.com.

25  Jesus said…, “I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,  26  and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:25, 26 ESV
